Winter sports season starts with a new park in Austria: Landal Resort Maria Alm

Landal GreenParks is opening its seventh holiday park in Austria on 15 December: Landal Resort Maria Alm in Salzburgerland. The newest holiday park is in the middle of the Hochkönig ski region and is part of Ski Amadé, one of the largest ski resorts in Europe. This brings the number of Landal Ski Life ski destinations to twelve.

Landal Ski Life offers the best winter sports accommodation in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Czechoslovakia, many situated directly on the slopes. The twelve parks are in locations where the snow is guaranteed and offer all the amenities to ensure a fantastic winter sports holiday for both young and old, for beginners and experienced winter sports fans and for daredevils and comfort seekers. Almost all the holiday parks offer a varied Fun & Entertainment programme for young and old. Take part in the torchlight procession or take a peek behind the scenes of the mountain lift at Landal Hochmontafon. Go tobogganing on the family track at Landal Rehrenberg or take a trip on the Pistenbully, horse sleigh or mountain train.

“Landal Ski Life offers an unforgettable winter sports experience for anyone who loves enjoying nature in the winter. After a day filled with outdoor activities in the ski resorts, you can fully relax in the sauna or enjoy a delicious dinner in our restaurants. Children will have a fantastic time in the children's ski land play area, the Bollo Club or in the pool. We offer a complete winter sports holiday with Landal Ski Life,” says Erik van Essen, commercial director of Landal GreenParks.

Landal Resort Maria Alm

The new Landal Resort Maria Alm is located in the picturesque ski village of Maria Alm where the ski lift departs to the Hochkönig ski region, part of Ski Amadé. You only need one ski pass to access 760 km of slopes. The beautiful and tranquil surroundings of the park are also a very popular holiday destination outside the winter sports season. The holiday resort has 113 luxury apartments, divided over 10 chalet buildings. The apartments can all be booked for arrivals from 15 December 2018.

Renewals and expansion

There have been major renovations at Landal Katschberg, whereby all 72 chalet apartments have been given new interiors; an investment of 1.6 million euros.

And more good news for winter sports guests at Landal Katschberg, the 2-person chair lift in St Margarethen is being replaced by a brand-new 8-person gondola, so from now you will be able to get to the slopes faster and more comfortably. The new lift will be operational from the first day of the 2018/2019 winter sports season. The Silverjet 1 gondola connects to the existing second section of the ski region.

The chalets have also been renewed at Landal Bad Kleinkirchheim, with new flooring and sofas in all apartments.

Good prospects for winter sports bookings

The number of bookings for winter is currently well ahead of last year for all periods from November to April. The trend that the week of the New Year is more popular than Christmas continues this year, too. The spring break in 2019 is favourable as it is spread over 3 weeks, instead of the 2 weeks this year, and they were soon fully booked. In contrast, Easter falls two weeks later in 2019 which lowers the snow guarantee and some ski lifts are already closed by then.

Erik van Essen: “All countries of origin show an increase in the number of guests, whereby bookings from England, Hungry, Belgium and Germany as well as those from The Netherlands are doing very well. The number of guests from Denmark and Slovenia has even doubled compared to last year.”
