Landal wins the Foodservice Award 2021 in the category of Leisure

Yesterday Landal GreenParks won the Foodservice Award 2021 in the category of Leisure at the virtual hospitality trade fair Horecava. The holiday provider was selected by consumers as number one above the other four nominees in this category: De Efteling, La Place, Roompot Vakanties and Pathé Theaters. A total of 26 food service companies took part in various categories for a chance to win a (category) prize for which almost 17,000 customer reviews were collated. The result was announced by Chef Pierre Wind.

When reviewing their favourite food service company, consumers evaluated the price, range and service, among others. This third edition of the distinction included aspects focused specifically on the situation concerning COVID-19, such as safety, hygiene and service. Of all aspects, the consumers consider the price-quality ratio the most important, followed by the range, convenience and hospitality. With a score of 7.15, Landal GreenParks won the Leisure category. Other categories were: delivery, cafes/restaurants, fast service, hotels, coffee & lunchrooms, market stalls, petrol station shops, snack bars, speciality shops and to go.

‘We are exceptionally pleased and proud of this consumer recognition. The Foodservice Award 2021 is a wonderful recognition from our guests and a big boost for our restaurants, in which we have invested heavily in recent years. And for all our colleagues at our holiday parks, who continually seek new creative possibilities and see what is possible under the current measures’, said Hans Oosterdijk, Director Portfolio & Concept Design at Landal GreenParks.

‘In this difficult period, we have committed ourselves to continually provide our guests with a delicious and surprising range of food and drink. We made the switch to a range of food boxes and freshly prepared meals, for guests to eat in their bungalow which they can order through the new webshops. To achieve this, we built 75 new webshops, so that guests can use the free Landal app to submit their orders online. Ordering fresh sandwiches and snack bar orders to avoid queues at the shop and snack bar is nothing new to us. Furthermore, we have expanded our range with baking and cooking workshops in the holiday homes enabling families to have fun making ice creams or chocolate lollies. Delicious food combined with a fun activity for families to enjoy their holiday together’.

‘Eating and drinking together naturally’

In the past year, Landal GreenParks has invested almost 20 million euros in new concepts based on preparing fresh and healthy, sustainable ingredients from the region and eating together. Oosterdijk: ‘Under the slogan: “Eating and drinking together naturally” the guests get a taste of nature, as it were on their plate and experience this in the space where they stay with their family, too. We successfully rolled out this formula in phases at the holiday parks under our management in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. In our vision, the restaurant is the central (meeting) place at the park. There must be something to do there throughout the day, with the emphasis on eating and drinking together. Now that the hospitality facilities are temporarily unavailable for guests at the parks we have focused on new creative possibilities’.
